Sharing the history, beauty and how truly extraordinary each gem and piece of jewellery is.

Hi there!

Thanks for visiting My Jewellery Concierge. With you being here, let me introduce myself.

My name is Melissa Tarabula and I am a Canadian expat living in Doha, Qatar. I arrived in the midst of a very hot, humid summer in July 2017 with my husband, Scott. We came here for his job but have continued on as we truly love our life here.

The Personal Stuff

After being fortunate enough to combine travelling and my gem courses throughout southeast Asia and India and experience a safari on the Massai Mara, Scott and I welcomed our son, Taylor, in January 2020. He is utter perfection and we love him so much. His smile lights up the room. He is full of determination which is inspiring. He is our little sheikh!

We also have a  big, black, oh-so fluffy lap kitty named Vlad. He came to us as a foster and stayed as a family member. For a street kitty he does enjoy the finer things in life as is evident by his loves Magnolia Bakery cupcakes. Yes, you read that correctly, he is a big fan of Magnolia Bakery cupcakes.

The Professional Information

My education started with a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology from the University of Alberta in Canada. It was a wonderful program that developed not only my critical thinking but through courses in humanities, business and science, I can see tasks and challenges through a holistic lens.

From there, I am a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) graduate with my Applied Jewelry Professional diploma, Graduate Pearl diploma and Graduate Diamond diploma. I am currently completing my Graduate Gemologist diploma.

Prior to moving to Doha, I was able to cultivate a bespoke skill set from multiple industries. My talents and experience in sales, administration, public speaking and software intersect which enables me to present a unique qualitative and quantitative experience for clients, friends, and colleagues.

I was fortunate enough to work at one of Canada’s premier jewellery and watch stores. My colleagues had a wealth of knowledge that they shared with me. I was able to learn from the best and most experience people in the industry. I found an industry to be proud of and passionate about!

And Now…

Sharing the history, beauty and how truly extraordinary each gem and piece of jewellery is, is a passion of mine; with the goal of helping clients discover and appreciate the same. I know how intimidating jewellery and gemstones can be, so it is my objective to foster a positive and informative experience with the industry. Being able to help you discover an exquisite gem or design and purchase a piece of bespoke jewellery is what drives me professionally. Making your experience more than simply an item purchased, it is my goal to help you learn about the jewels in the process.

I love the history behind gems and jewellery. It is fascinating to learn about the prominence different pieces and stones have had throughout time. The conditions that had to be just right to create these small but valuable objects.  How their discovery and popularity have shaped continents and empires. I can never get enough.

I look forward to connecting and sharing my passion with you.
